Galivan - Cosmo Police was released in 1986 for the ZX Spectrum 48K. Published by Imagine Software Ltd, the game was created by John Gibson and Karen Davies. It serves as a licensed adaptation of the original arcade coin-op by Nichibutsu.
This 2D side-view arcade action game supports up to two players. The gameplay features multi-directional scrolling and offers control options via cursor keys, Kempston joystick, or Interface 2. Although the game is frequently misnamed as Galvan on the inlay spine and in various reviews, it remains a distinct conversion for the platform.
The original retail price was £7.95. Beyond the ZX Spectrum release, the title was also made available for the Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64 home computer systems.
The game holds an average magazine score of 66.25% based on four reviews. It also received the ZX Computing Globella award in the December 1986 issue of ZX Computing.
In Russia, the game was available through TR-DOS versions by Viktor Drozd and Mike Blum, as well as cracked cassette releases. It did not receive significant press coverage and remains relatively obscure.
