Great Gurianos was released in 1987 for the ZX Spectrum 48K. The game was published by Hit-Pak and developed by David Perry, based on the original arcade coin-op by Taito Corporation.
This title is a solo arcade beat-em-up. The control scheme supports Kempston Joystick and Interface 2. The game translates the mechanics of the original arcade machine to the constraints of the 48K home computer.
Beyond the ZX Spectrum, the game was also released for the Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64 platforms.
Critical reception varied significantly, resulting in an average magazine score of 52%. Sinclair User awarded the game 81%, while Crash gave it 53%. C&VG and Your Sinclair provided lower scores of 39% and 35% respectively.
In Russia, the game gained recognition through POKE-code listings in electronic magazines like Revival and Micro. It saw multiple TR-DOS releases, including bug-fixed versions by groups like SG-Team and Slider. Cracked tape versions by Bill Gilbert and Studio Komputerowe D.H.Juventus were also in circulation.
