The game is based on the arcade coin-op licensed from Atari Games, Datasoft, and Namco, with the Datasoft version differing from the Atarisoft release primarily through trackside signage.
The original cassette price was £7.99. The game was also released on several other platforms, including Amstrad CPC, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, PC/DOS, VIC-20, and Intellivision.

In the USSR and Russia, the game became known through several TR-DOS conversions released by groups such as Pro Hackers Dynasty, tiboh, and Grand. Cracked cassette versions, including one by KRAKT BAI KALLE, were also widely distributed.
