Punchy is an arcade platformer released in 1983 by Mr. Micro Ltd for the ZX Spectrum 48K. The game was created by Issi and is based on the original arcade coin-op machine by Century Electronics Ltd.
The game supports a single player and offers control options via Kempston Joystick or Interface 2. A notable technical feature of this release is the inclusion of Beeper Speech, which adds a distinct audio element to the platforming action.
The original cassette was priced at £6.9. Beyond the ZX Spectrum, the game was released on several other platforms, including Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Commodore Plus/4, MSX, and VIC-20.
Critics responded favorably to the title. The magazine Crash reviewed the game twice, awarding it 88% in both instances, resulting in an average magazine score of 88.00%.
The game gained recognition among Soviet users through POKE-code collections featured in electronic magazines like Revival and Faultless. It was also released in a TR-DOS version by the group Fikus'95 and a cracked cassette version by Konstantin.
