Starship Quest was released in 1989 for the ZX Spectrum. It was developed by Larry Horsfield and published by FSF Adventures. The game serves as a sequel to the previous title, Magnetic Moon.
This is a single-player, text-only adventure game designed for both 48K and 128K ZX Spectrum machines.
The cassette version cost £2.5, while the disk version cost £2.99.
The game received positive feedback from critics, achieving an average score of 80%. The Games Machine awarded it 90%, and Your Sinclair featured the game in two separate reviews, giving it scores of 7/10 and 8/10.
In Russia and the former USSR, the game became known through numerous cracked cassette releases by groups such as Dupanov, Fanatic Stas, and C&K Company. Several TR-DOS disk versions were later produced by Power of Sound and Dupanov. The game was also mentioned in ZX Magazine as a notoriously difficult and nerve-wracking experience.
