In the late 1980s the originally British ZX Spectrum found a second life in the USSR. Factories and cooperatives across the country produced hundreds of clones, while amateur studios distributed cassettes with games — translated into Russian, enhanced with new loading screens, turbo loaders and cracker signatures.

This site is dedicated to those tape releases. Not the “clean” Western editions that usually held one or two games per cassette, but the versions that actually spun in domestic tape recorders and became part of Soviet Spectrum community history.

Here you will find releases recovered from magnetic tapes of that era, a gallery of covers, catalogs of crackers and recording studios, plus TAP and TZX files for emulators.

The project was started by Stanislav Zarubin, the main enthusiast behind the collection. Thanks to him and other community members the archive keeps growing: enthusiasts continue to digitize old tapes, explore their contents and preserve the unique legacy of the ZX Spectrum era in the USSR.
